The purpose of Christian Life Community formation materials is to invite and engage members in living out the CLC way of life as One Apostolic Community. Assumptions:
The three charisms of CLC — Ignatian Spirituality, Discerning Community, and Apostolic Mission — are the basis of our CLC way of life.
That a holistic spiritual life of individuals and communities must include an integration of these charisms.
Some elements of these charisms should be part of formation from the beginning as reflected in our General Principles and other formative documents.
Engagement with the broader CLC experience — local, regional, national, world — is essential.
The materials are meant to provide a unified formation experience, but not uniform.
Criteria for Materials:
Formation materials should have elements of all three charisms appropriate to the stage of formation of the community.
The materials should reflect the dynamics of the stages of growth within Spiritual Exercises in individuals and communities.
The materials should be consistent with the General Principles and General Norms, Charism and other documents from the World CLC.
The materials should foster an awareness of and engagement with the broader CLC.
The materials introduce and then deepen DSSE (Discern, Send, Support, Evaluate) which is rooted in the processes of the Exercises appropriate to the stage of the community.
The materials offer a review of the community’s life in relationship to the CLC way of life at regular intervals.
The materials should foster an understanding of and desire for commitment to the CLC way of life.
