Metro NY CLC members held their annual Lenten gathering in March in the St. Ignatius Lounge of the Fordham University Church. Afterwards, they attended Fr. Greg Boyle SJ's talk at Fordham Prep. Fr. Greg is the founder of Homeboy Industries which works with gang members in LA. Peppered with humor, Fr. Greg 's masterful storytelling was especially relevant to CLCers as he shared his life's work by interweaving prayer, relationship with God, and mission in creating a "culture of kinship" and of healing with those on the margins. It was an outstanding and moving talk that resonates deeply with our Ignatian charism. Click blue heading text to view Fr. Greg's talk starting at 11:45.
At the NY Metro Lenten Day of Prayer at Fordham Prep in the Bronx, members of local NY and NJ CLC communities gathered to listen, reflect, and pray on Pope Francis's encyclical Laudato Si.
We were joined by Prof. Erin Lothes Bivano from St. Elizabeth College in the morning who gave a powerful presentation on what it means to live Laudato Si in our world. The afternoon session was an opportunity to reflect on Metro NY's shared mission which is Care of Our Common Home.
Those gathered agreed to all pray Pope Francis' Christian Prayer in Union with Creation at all upcoming CLC small group meetings. A copy is available via the first document link below.
In addition, Prof. Lothes Bivano shared an extensive list of resources related to Laudato Si. A copy of the list is available in the second document link below.
