On Sunday April 30th, chiefs of the Munduruku tribe from Brazil's Amazon region, who were accompanied by World CLC President Mauricio Lopez, met with CLC-USA members at Fordham University at Lincoln Center in midtown Manhattan. The chiefs were visiting the UN the following day to tell the story of how proposed dams on their ancestral rivers will negatively impact the rainforest and it's rich biodiversity of native plants and animals, and destroy the livelihood of their tribal people.
CLC members had a chance to meet the chiefs, hear their stories firsthand, and listen to and participate in traditional Munduruku prayers and songs.
